From: ITV PRODUCTIONS IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHORION POIROT - Mrs McGinty's Dead When charwoman Mrs McGinty dies from a brutal blow to the back of her head suspicion immediately falls on her shifty lodger, James Bentley [Joe Absolom], whose clothes reveal traces of the victim's blood and hair. Yet something is amiss and Superintendent Spence [Richard Hope], who was responsible for arresting Bentley, has grave doubts about his guilt and approaches the Belgian detective for assistance. Poirot [DAVID SUCHET] travels to the small village of Broadhinney to investigate the circumstances of Mrs McGinty’s murder and meets the inhabitants, all of whom present veneers of normality behind which lurk dark secrets. As he investigates deeper into the mystery, he recruits the help of his acquaintance Ariadne Oliver (Zoe Wanamaker), the famous crime novelist, who is staying in the village to work on a new stage adaptation of her work. What Poirot uncovers is a link to two brutal crimes from many years before and the realisation that someone in the village has a secret they are willing to kill to keep. Mrs McGinty’s Dead also stars Sarah Smart, Lesley Nicol, Ruth Gemmell, Raquel Cassidy, Richard Dillane, Emma Amos, Simon Shepherd, Billy Geraghty, Mary Stockley, Richard Lintern, Paul Rhys, Sian Phillips, Catherine Russell and Amanda Root Picture shows: DAVID SUCHET as Hercule Poirot ITV Picture contact - Pat Smith - 084488 13044 Photographer - Jon Hall - Digital This photograph is [C] ITV Plc and can only be reproduced for editorial purposes directly in connection with the programme or event mentioned above, or ITV plc.
